30 Lives
During the title screen, press UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, L1, R1, L2, R2, L3, L3 on controller two. If the cheat has worked you will hear a sound and your first credit upon starting a new game will be worth 30 lives (the credits thereafter take you back to the default number of lives though)

Extras
There are a whole host of extra missions and eggs to unlock in the game by performing well. Here's what you can unlock and how:

Level 5 (training)
Complete level 5 on the Normal difficulty setting

Level 6 
Complete level 5 with an A tank.

Level 6 (training)
Complete level 6 during the normal game.

Level 7 
Complete level 6 with an A rank

Level 7 (training)
Complete level 7 during the normal game.

Final Boss Battle (training)
Defeat the final Boss during the normal game mode.

Gallery Option
Complete the game with an A rank

Database Option
Complete the game with a B or C rank.

Theater Option
Complete the game under the Normal difficulty setting once.

Satellite Weapon
Complete level 5 with a B or C rank

Return
Complete level 7 up to the credits with an A rank.

Triumphant Return
Complete level 7 including after the credits with an A rank

Contra Vs Puppy
Complete the game with an 5 rank

In-game reset
Hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 + Start + Select during play to return to the Main Menu.
